It is not uncommon to find people placing an order at a grocery store for fruits or vegetables. Take the case of mangoes for instance, you’d probably know that there are so many varieties of them (some even from different countries!) but it may not be apparent to everyone that the selection process at a supermarket is much more complicated.
The reason behind this complexity is that the fruit we buy today might not be available on our local grocers shelves tomorrow. As a result, there must be a gap between being able to use computer vision and recognizing an image of what we want and buying it in time. If a machine could do this task in real-time, then you would save money by skipping all the processes involved: payment processing, shipping etc.
